¡Barcelona!

Exploring Barcelona with Carlye!
This weekend I got a chance to see one of my close friends from high school in Barcelona. She is studying abroad there this semester and she was nice enough to host me for the weekend. Unfortunately the flight times weren’t very good, I got into Barcelona around 10 on Friday night and I had to start my journey back to France at 9:30 Sunday morning. But it was too good of an opportunity to pass up a direct flight from Nantes that wasn’t super expensive (rare). I also got to have a travel buddy! My friend Brigit was visiting a friend in Barcelona this weekend too.
Tapas for dinner on Friday

After dinner we went right to bed to prepare for our SUPER busy Saturday.
Saturday morning we got up pretty early and got a breakfast of Chocolate con churros. The consistency of the chocolate was so thick and the taste was so rich, it tasted almost like they melted down a bar of dark chocolate and put it in a mug.
After breakfast we made our way to Port Vell and the beach. It was so wonderful to be in the sun and warmth, Nantes is still pretty cold and rainy most days.

After walking along the beach, we walked Parc de la Ciutadella on our way to lunch and saw this beautiful fountain and the Arc de Triomphe.

We walked along beautiful, colorful streets until we found a traditional Spanish restaurant and ate a delicious lunch!

Vibrant Barcelona!
After lunch we continued our walking tour of Barcelona and saw many famous attractions on the way! Carlye did a great job of picking a route where I got to see many different sights.

Barcelona Cathedral
Casa Batlló

Sagrada Familía

La Pedrera
After walking around a bit more we made our way to Parc Güell. This was definitely my favorite part of the day.

On the way up.

After Parc Guell we kept making our way up to the Bunkers del Carmel where we got an amazing panoramic view of the city and got to watch the sunset.

By the time we got back down to the city it was dark and we got a chance to see the Magic Fountain before meeting up with Brigit and her friend for dinner.

It was an exhausting day but I’m so happy that I got a chance to visit an old friend and travel with a new friend, and to see such a beautiful and vibrant city!
